Early Original Gustav Stickley Harvey Ellis Drop Front Desk, 1902-1903

Gustav Stickley / Harvey Ellis drop-front writing desk, model #706. Features a dramatic overhanging top, beveled on the underside, design elements attributed to Harvey Ellis. The interior is fitted with pigeon holes, a pencil tray and two recessed areas for inkwells which are not present. This is the same form which is also, though rarely, found with inlay in the desk front. The top & sides of this early desk measure thicker than the mid-period example shown sold on this page. Signed with the large 2 1/2" tall "Stickley in the box" Gustav Stickley red decal used from 1902-1903 and the early Eastwood paper label. The desk measures 44" high by 30" wide by 11" deep. Excellent original finish with light finish enhancement to the top only. A few small dings to the top as shown, minor ink stains to interior as shown & very minor wear commensurate with age. Overall a very good example of a useful desk with a small footprint, good color and very tight.
